SSE Pacifico’s employee delivers a lecture at Kibi International University

At Kibi International University (Minami Awaji-Shichi Campus, Hyogo Prefecture), our employee gave a special lecture on the cooperation between offshore wind power and the local fishing industry with the aim of achieving net zero.

Approximately 40 students from Kibi International University attended, as well as 15 fishermen from Tokushima Prefecture's Yuki Fishery Cooperative Association and Hiwasacho Fishery Cooperative Association, who shared insights into recent changes in marine conditions.

Participating students commented that they had ‘never paid attention to offshore wind power before, but today's lecture sparked my interest’, ‘I am curious about how it will be constructed’ and ‘I now understand that it is necessary for net zero’.  Additionally, by hearing directly from people involved in the fishing industry gave them a more concrete image of changes in the ocean and global warming, with comments such as ‘I now understand that issues such as protecting the marine environment, net zero, increasing the number of fishermen and revitalising local communities are all connected’.

We will continue to contribute to the cooperation between offshore wind power and local fisheries, together with all interested parties.
